Aldo Farias

Guitarist, composer, born in Naples in1961, he started studying classic guitar first. Then he began to interest in jazz, played with many musicians and worked with the quartet “Jazz Mediterranee”at a project aiming at realizing a synthesis between afro-american and european music.

He had different musical experiences with many artists like : Bob Berg, Andy Emler, Gianni Basso, Claudio Fasoli, Larry Nocella, Maurizio Giammarco, Tullio De Piscopo, Massimo Urbani, Roberto Gatto, Roberto Ottaviano, Nicola Stilo, Stefano Bollani, Mike Stern he collaborated in the workshops at Domenico Scarlatti Association with.

He did many concerts in several jazz festivals like: Euro Jazz, Roccella Ionica, Jazzology, Mara Jazz, Auditorium Rai, Teano Jazz, Positano Jazz, Euritmia, Guitar Networks, Caudium ‘99 Concerto per Pristina, F. Europea di Praga, Sessa Jazz, Premio Helios, Concerto per l’Adriatico with the partecipation of Green Peace, etc…

He recorded a cd “Domestic Standards” for Splasc(h) Records produced by “Lennie Tristano” which was a jazz remake of some Italian songs.

He recorded a cd with the quartet “Jazz Mediterranee” featured also by the American saxophonist Bob Berg.

Then he recorded the cd “Heart Lake” featured also by Ilir Bakiu and Roberto Gatto

In May 1999 he recorded with the same quartet (Francesco De Crescenzo, Angelo Farias and Roberto Gatto) the Cd “Free Hands” that aimed at mixing jazz and European musical tradition.

Meanwhile, he had musical experiences with theatres (Teatro Uniti, Teatro Europa Esperimenti, Teatro Bellini).

In April 2001 he released for Polosud the CD “MURALES” with A. D’Anna and A. Farias.

He also worked as teacher of Jazz Guitar at the Departiment of Modern Music of Domenico Scarlatti in Naples and in September 1999 published a book entitled: “Armonia e tecnica”distributed by Nuova Carisch.
